This landmark recording provides an extraordinary glimpse into the world of the Indians of the Gran Chaco region of Argentina. The first knowledge of existing native tribes in this area comes from expeditions completed by Spanish conquerors and up until the end of the 19th century, advancement of western culture was most evident in the chaquenos habitat. There is an abundance of ritual songs and dances in this collection with themes such as musical therapy of the Shamans, time for feasting, Shaman's control over rain and songs based on death, among others.
