Armadillo is a band that emerged out of a creative coincidence in Valledupar, Colombia (the land of vallenato). Mauricio Alvarez (Cero39) and Diego Maldonado (DeJuepuchas and La MiniTK del Miedo), met up with a bunch of local musicians there and started a jam session. The result was an album with 9 tracks, a musical journey through the sounds and timbres of vallenato, mixed with electronic and EDM beats and sequences. Though their first work focuses on vallenato sounds, Armadillo works in all traditional rhythms, particularly those emerging from Colombia’s least known musical regions.
